Today was our first Forest School Session! Although it was very rainy and muddy, we had lots of fun thinking about the new Year. We played Robins and Frost Sprites, a game of hide and seek, to think about how the frost comes in winter and we made wands/staffs to warn off the cold of winter and keep the light shining in our hearts throughout this period of time. The children had great fun despite their muddy clothes!
Year 6 meet and greet with BFC players
Date: 15th Dec 2022 @ 12:34pm
Today Year 6 were lucky enough to have a meet and greet with 2 1st team Blackpool FC players: Shayne Lavery and Sonny Carey. During their visit, Year 6 pupils asked them a range of questions, such as 'Who is the toughest team you've faced?', 'How did you feel when you first stepped out at Bloomfield Road as a Blackpool player?' and 'What job would you have had if you hadn't have been a footballer?'
We'd like to thank the players for taking the time to visit our children and answer their questions.
Key Stage 2 Boccia Competition
Date: 12th Dec 2022 @ 12:00pm
This morning saw 6 of our KS2 pupils visit Blackpool Sixth Form to take part in the School Games Boccia Competition. Boccia is a game designed for all, where pupils sit down and take turns throwing balls towards a target. To score points, you must get as close as you can to the jack (white ball), against an opposition.
Not only did our pupils represent Boundary with fantastic behaviour and respect, they finished first place in the competition, meaning they will now go on to represent Blackpool in the School Games finals in February 2023! A massive well done to all who took part, a great display of concentration, skill and effort!

We have been reading the story "Whatever Next!" By Jill Murphy. In the story a little bear makes a rocket out of a cardboard box and flies to the moon! We have had some super spaced themed activities including making space ships out of shapes and throwing the right number of space rocks in to a box. A favourite was making a giant planet by splatttering paint - great for working those big muscles. The chiildren also did some great mark making describing their trip to the moon.

On Monday morning we travelled to Blackpool Sports Centre to take part in this year's Sportshall Athletics competition. The competition saw students compete in various field and track events, such as Standing Long Jump and the 4x1 Relay.
Unfortunately we fell short of qualifying for the North schools section but, as always, our pupils represented the school with great pride and attitude, with the team scoring highly in plenty of their events.
Nursery - Aliens Love Dinopants!
Date: 24th Nov 2022 @ 11:28am
It's been pants crazy in nursery this week! We have been reading the story "Aliens Love Dinopants" all about aliens and dinosaurs who share a love of underpants! The children have been busy designing their own underpants and creating their own aliens. They really enjoyed blowing paint with a straw and adding eyes to make an alien! They have been counitng aliens, matching pants with the same pattern and feeding aliens at the funky fingers table! One day we even discovered some alien eggs. We waited patiently until they were ready and then we help the baby aliens hatch from the eggs!
Key Stage 2 Cross Country Race 2
Date: 24th Nov 2022 @ 9:18am
On Wednesday morning, 13 of our KS2 pupils from Year 4-6 travelled to Stanley Park to take part in the second Cross Country race of this academic year.
The course was a long and wet one, with plenty of muddy trainers crossing the finish line, but our Boundary pupils showed fantastic determination to secure some fantastic finishing positions. Each place gains points for our school, and after 2 races we are currently third out of all participating Blackpool schools. Many of our pupils who took part in the first race showed improvement in their finishing positions, which is great to see.
There are 6 races in total, with 4 coming up in 2023. Keep your eyes peeled as we gain more points that will see us progress up the table!

This morning our KS2 boys football team travelled to Stanley Park to take part in the Utilita Cup, organised by Blackpool FC Community Trust. The tournament saw our boys placed into a group facing various schools from across the Fylde Coast.
The team battled well, representing Boundary well and putting their all into their performances. Falling short in the group stages meant we missed out on the semi-finals but the boys showed real determination, some fantastic skills and positive play against tough opponents.

Today we had our second dance session based on the Haka. We recapped on the what we learned last week, which was the first 22 seconds of the dance. We then split the class and performed it at each other, making sure we used our faces to intimidate our 'opponents'. Once we had perfected the first section of the dance, we then improvised the next 22 seconds of the dance. We had to move as a group towards the other group and then perform our own actions that we thought would be inkeeping with the haka. Look at how firece we look!!

Nursery have been exloring Autumn this week. We have talked about all the signs that it is Autumn including colourful leaves, conkers and acorns on the ground and the weather getting a bit cooler. The children have loved looking at Autumn objects with a maginifying glass and talking about what they could see. We also made some great leaf people - everyone looked different! To help us develop our subitising skills, we picked a card with 1,2, or 3 dots on and then had to add the same number of leaves to a tree and for our fine motor muscles the chilren put loom bands on pinecones and used tweezers to move conkers in to a bowl.

There's been alot of pop, whizz, bang, whoosh and crackle in nursery this week as we have been celebrating Bonfire Night. The children enjoyed sharing their experiences of Bonfire Night and were able to recall the fireworks they saw. They described the fireworks using words like "big", "loud" and "bright". It was lovely to hear them talking about their experiences and making links between what they had seen and what their freinds had seen.

Today we began our dance journey in PE and this half term we are going to be focussing on the Haka. Today we watched the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team perform the Haka before a match and talked about their facial expressions and how they made themselves appear intimidating. We will be learning the basic parts of the Haka and adding our own bits to it as the weeks go on.

This half term, Year 2 are lucky to have Mr Williams supporting us in PE. Over the last two weeks, we have been practising our hopping and jumping skills in a circuit of activities including hopscotch, hopping over the stepping stones and skipping. Although, we have found some of these skills difficult- in particular the skipping- the children have worked incredibly hard and have began to see some great progress. Some children who couldn't skip at the start are now beginning to skip steps at a time and getting faster. We are looking forward to the next 5 weeks, kepe up the good work Year 2!
Date: 4th Nov 2022 @ 4:08pm
This week in Year Three we had our first rugby session with Wigan Warriors. The children enjoyed learning how to learn how to hold the ball properly and dodging their opponents. We also worked well as a team playing a wide range of games and look forward to learn new skills in the coming weeks.

Enter Nursery if you dare this week! There have been some very spooky goings on as we celebrated Halloween. We read the story "What's in the Witch's Kitchen" and turned our homecorner in to a witches kitchen - eye ball soup anyone? The children developed their fine motor skills by hammering witches fingers in the a pumpkin and practised counting by sticking legs on to a spider. It's been a very creepy week!
Year 6 Creative Movement & Performance Festival
Date: 19th Oct 2022 @ 9:22am
On Thursday morning 10 pupils from Year 6 took part in a Creative Movement & Performance Festival at Blackpool Sixth Form. They were taken through a series of workshops, looking at acting, singing and dancing all based around the production "The Greatest Showman". This was held by Active Blackpool, using Sixth Form Leaders who taught the children lots of different performing arts skills.
The children worked hard putting on their best performances of clowns, strongmen and acrobats in their acting workshop. They then learned the lyrics to This Is Me in the singing workshop showing fantastic confidence, before moving onto a dance to the same song at the end.
The event was rounded off with a fantastic show from the Sports Leaders with a compilation from The Greatest Showman which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
Year 5 Blackpool Zoo Orienteering
Date: 19th Oct 2022 @ 9:20am
Active Blackpool run a number of physical activity programmes aiming to improve the physical wellbeing of all children across Blackpool. We were invited to take part in two fun festivals within Blackpool Zoo where each school will be given a map of the park to help them to solve the clues to find the right animals. The intention for the event is to get the children out walking in the fresh air whilst having a look at the animals along the way.
The children, chosen from Year 5, had a great morning with Mrs. Millar and Mr. Parsons supported by Leaders from Blackpool Sixth Form. Efficient map reading and a keen sense of time meant that we returned to the finish before the other schools – having even had time to visit some of the animals not on our list (and the dinosaurs too!).
Date: 19th Oct 2022 @ 9:17am
Today, nine children from Year two represent Boundary for an orienteering activity at Blackpool Zoo in conjunction with Active Blackpool and the School Games.
The children had an amazing time, finding out information about animals to answer the clues on the activity sheet. They used their reading skills and previously taught knowledge to identify the key information around the Zoo to answer the questions in regards to each animal and used the map and signage around the zoo to locate the animals. We all learnt so many new facts; who knew a giraffe’s neck is 2.4 metres long!
All participants demonstrated persistence, teamwork, and resourcefulness.
Date: 16th Oct 2022 @ 8:11pm
We had a glorious day for our rugby session this week. The children had a chance to put into practise all of the skills they had learned in previous sessions to play a game. There was some excellent teamwork on show and all of the children demonstrated excellent sportsmanship.
Date: 10th Oct 2022 @ 7:11pm
In PE this half term we have explored jumping in a variety of different ways. We have learnt to work safelty within a defined space, bend out legs when landing and to drive our arms upwards. We have practised running skillfully to negotiate space within our warm ups and how to work effectively within a team. We have enjoyed learning these skills with Mr Williams and our class teachers.
Date: 5th Oct 2022 @ 9:16am
On Tuesday morning, 13 of our students travelled to Stanley Park to partake in a Cross Country event organised by Blackpool Council. This was the first of 6 races across the year in which schools compete to earn points depending on their finishing positions. The races were split into Y3/4 Girls and Boys, proceeded by Y5/6 Girls and Boys.
Our runners put in a fantastic shift, placing a minimum top half of finishers in all races across the board, showing great determination and skill to perform 1 or 2 laps of the Stanley Park grass track! Well done to all involved for your efforts, we look forward to seeing the progression across the year!
