This week we explored how to travel with a ball at our feet with confidence. We began by dribbling the balls around a given area, touching with our big toe and then touching with our little toe. We had lots of chance to practise this and then moved onto manipulating the ball in different directions. We also leant how to stop a ball with our foot and kick accurately to a partner, before playing some dribbling games.

This half term Year Three have been looking at Yoga in our P.E lessons. We have focused on using our breathing and developing our confidence in poses. These have included the tree, cobra, cow, hero poses and many more. We have also put these poses together to make sequences with our sun salutations.

Nursery began their Easter celebrations with lots of fun activites. The chlldren loved exploring the Easter sensory tray and have been building their fine motor muscles by putting small chicks in eggs, using tweezers to pick uo Easter pom poms and putting pegs on numbered Easter Bunnies. There have been lots of fun Easter crafts and an Easter themed maths table - we've had en eggcellent time!

This half term in Year Two we have been dancing. We have created our own dance to Matilda's Revolting Children as our class author is Roald Dahl. During the weeks we have really been focusing on dancing to the music using our emotion thinking about the lyrics and how the children would be behaving. Whilst improvising we had to think about the different levels of the dance and ensuring we were in time.

This week Holly Class have been busy outside enjoying Forest School!
Although the weather was rainy and the ground was extremely muddy, the children had a great time doing Forest Yoga, playing number games and looking at new life in the pond- frog spawn!

This week, we continue practising and making up a Roman dance. We listened to a piece of Roman music first. We found the beat and decided the type of movements we needed to be making.

This week we continued our Yoga sessions in PE. We perfected the mountain pose, tree pose and warrior pose before moving on to learn the cobra pose, downward dog and butterfly pose. We put all of the poses together into a sequence. Everyone ended the session very relaxed.

We have been readig the story "Dear Zoo" and have enjoyed exploring all the animals from the story. The children have investigated farm animals and zoo animals and sorted them in to two groups and they have made up stories about zoo animals using the zoo small world. The children have painted some wonderful pictures of zoo animals and made some swirly snakes. Outside they built cages for animals using magnetic shapes, made playdough zoo animals and created some food for the animals.

This week in Reception the children have been learning about the importance of keeping our bodies and minds healthy. We have been talking about the importance of a healthy diet and understanding that things like biscuits, sweets and cakes are a 'treat'. We also talked about hygiene including brishing our teeth regualry and visiting the dentist, washing our hands and keeping our bodies clean including have a shower and bath. The children have exercising in the garden by riding on the balance bikes, playing ball games and having races. The children designed healthy lunch boxes and wrote simple sentences about how to keep healthy.

Nursery have been undertaking their superhero training this week. They had to complete a superhero obstacle course being careful not to fall in the river of crocodiles and making their way carefully down the slide of snakes! They designed and made their own superhero cuff that gave them superpowers and made their own masks. There were lots of superhero activities including measuring superheroes, rescuing the superheroes who had been captured by the baddies and making up stories using the small world figures. We also read a fab story called "There's A Superhero In Your Book" by Tom Fletcher. It has been a super week!
Reception- Balance Bike Safety

Reception had a very exciting start to the week- learning how to ride balance bikes safely!
Eevery week, for the next four weeks, Reception will learn how to ride a balance bike and why we wear protective clothing when doing so.
They learnt to ride safely, not collide with each other and push with their feet- it was such fun!

Nursery Find a Pea on the Loose!

We had to be very careful in Nursery this week as there was an evil pea on the loose! We read the story "Supertato" and discovered that the peas had escaped from the nursery freezer! Luckily we managed to find them all with the help of the Wanted posters the children created. Then we discovered peas trapped in jelly and the children had to use their fine motor muscles to try and pull them out using tweezers. We explored lots of different vegetables and create some really delicious looking vegetable soup. The children even made their own evil pea and supertato using materials to create collages. Now we have to keep checking to make sure there are no more esca-peas!

Year 6 began their new PE unit this week by learning several yoga poses, which improve posture, strengthen the core and increase flexibility. We started with the a simple mountain pose before moving on to the tree pose, warrior pose and chair pose. We then eded the session with a relaxing meditation.
Eco at Boundary-Walk to School!

'Walk to School' campaign started again in September 2022. It promotes the benefits of walking to school- keeping healthy and reducing air pollution. The class winners so far are:

Reception- PE Throwing and Catching!

The children in Reception have been learning how to throw and catch a ball using their hand eye coordination skills.
They worked together to throw the ball into a hoop, then they practised bouncing and catching it on their own and finally they had to throw a ball to each other .

This week the children have been learning about different cultural celebrations including taking part in dragon dancing, The children watched some videos of different festivals and observed how the dragon moved to the music. During PE the children have been exploring different ways in which they can move their bodies to music. They worked together in groups to create their own dragon dances and performed them to the other children in the class.

On the last day of Spring 1, we welcomed parents and carers into school so that the children could showcase everything they have learned during our Fit 2 Go course. From living a healthy lifestyle, to teeth health, as well as physical and mental health, the children showcased their work brilliantly. Four children from the year group won certificates for their fantastic efforts during Fit2Go. Well done everyone!
Nursery Enjoyed the Snowy Weather

Nursery didn't let a little bit of snow and ice stop them from having fun! The children went outside and explored the icy conditions by touching the ice and discussing what it feels like. We used words like cold, spikey, hard and melt to describe the ice. The children were very excitied to find that the water in the mud kitchen had frozen and some bowls had been frozen under the ice!

We begin our PE unit by playing team building and communication games. The children had to work as a team to protect the person who was wearing the bib. After several attempts, they learned how to communiate effectively and move around the hall as a group. We then began to learn two passes used in netball - the chest pass and the bounce pass. After practising each one, the children were challenged will some passing and moving games.

In PE this week pupils in year 5 were asked to create balances. Working in pairs, pupils created a simple routine of rolls and balances, which could be high or low, broad or narrow. Each performance was viewed and then children tried to improve their performances.
KS2 - Blackpool Schools Football Tournament

This morning our KS2 boys football team took part in the Blackpool Schools Football Tournament, which they qualified for before Christmas. The rescheduled event saw all schools from Blackpool take part in a couple of fixtures to determine who would go on to represent Blackpool at the finals on Friday.
As always, our Boundary boys put on a great show of character, determination and although they didn't qualify for the final, they came away smiling after a spirited performance.
Well done to all KS2 boys involved in today's event, you've done your school proud!

This half term we will be completing our Fit2Go programmes with Blackpool Football Club Community Trust. The programme consists of a practical lesson and a theory lesson. Each week there is a different theme to the week.
Week one: Healthy lifestyles
Week two: The Eat Well Guide
Week three: Physical activity
Week four: It's all about balance
Week five: Snacks and label reading
Week six: Teeth and hydration
For our theory about healthy lifestyles this week, we looked at what we need to stay healthy. For example, 9-11 hours sleep, drink water and a balance of foods from different food groups. Then for our practical we did some warm ups and then played dodgeball.
