James Harris visits Boundary

Date: 10th Jul 2023 @ 1:36pm

We were so thrilled to be visited by author, James Harris on Friday 7th July. He conducted a whole school assembly where he talked about writing books and how he got into it. James grew up in  seaside town, near Middlesbrough (just like Blackpool). James definitely inspired some of our aspiring young writers to follow in his footsteps and begin writing their own books.

Throughout the day, Year 5 and 6 took part in workshops, where James talked about creating stories from things he was most interested in. James got the children to draw a random shape on a piece of paper and told them to swap them and then he told them to create the shape into a monster. The children could shout out a number between 1-40 and James would give them different ideas to help create a monster. This showed the children that they could let their imagination run wild and create something from 'nothing'!

Year 6 - Art Day

Date: 29th Jun 2023 @ 2:46pm

We have spent the day exploring patterns, colours and shapes to create moodboards in our sketch books. Our end product for our art this half term was to create mini-world light boxes, where we used our imagination to design a showbox with pictures and sculptures. We also used a range of paper, paint and colours to add detail to our boxes. We then added different colours of cellophane to the lid and shone a torch into each one, giving a small immersive feel to our work.

Nursery Explore Planting Seeds

Date: 27th Apr 2023 @ 11:28am

Nursery have been exploring growth and change and this week we have been learning about planting seeds. We read the story "Jasper's Beanstalk" about a cat who finds a bean and plants it in his garden. We planted our own beans and we really hope they grow in to giant beanstalks! We talked about how to look after our beans and that they need soil, water and sunlight to help them grow. Our planting didn't stop there! We have been very busy planting sunflowers in our outdoor classroom. We also used different construction toys to see who could build the tallest beanstalk - we had some whoopers! We explored shape by making our own Jasper using triangles and circles.

Year 1 How Should We Treat The Environment?

Date: 21st Apr 2023 @ 6:25pm

Today we began to discuss our key question in RE, ‘How might beliefs about creation affect the way people treat the world?’ We began by learning the name of the religion we will be learning about and that Muslims believe there is only one God – Allah. Todays lesson involved learning about how we should treat the environment, why it is important and whose responsibility it is. We did this through looking at images and real life nature examples. We went on a nature walk to collect lots of natural resources and we then used these natural resources to create transient nature pictures.

Whole School Art Day 2023

Date: 24th Mar 2023 @ 11:22am

On Thursday all the children fully embraced a whole school art day. From Nursery to Year 6 you could hear the sound of paper being ripped and cut as the children created collages of different things you can find in their home town of Blackpool. From transport in Year 3 to famous landmarks in Year 5, from trees and flowers in Year 1 to collaged signs in Year 6. The children have created some superb pieces of artwork and these are all going to be displayed together to create a whole school mural.

Nursery Art Day

Date: 23rd Mar 2023 @ 4:44pm

Nursery enjoyed taking part in the whole school Art Day. Our first task was to make the backgrounds for the display that is going to be created from all the art work. The children used sponges, rolllers, tights filled with rice and washing up brushes to create some grass, sky and a road. The rest of the school were using collage to create their art work so we joined in with this by making some collage bugs.

Year 5 - Art Day

Date: 23rd Mar 2023 @ 4:37pm

For Art Day, pupils in year 5 were asked to create a collage and drawing of a famous Blackpool landmark. After discussing the landmarks, such as Blackpool Tower and Central Pier, pupils created a page of ideas in their sketchbooks. After that, pupils chose a landmark and found an image of it to reproduce for their final piece of work. The children used a range of materials to make a collage background, before drawing a pencil sketch of their landmark.

Year 1 Art Day

Date: 23rd Mar 2023 @ 2:51pm

Today we enjoyed Art Day! First, we created our inspiration pages using a range of images of trees and flowers. We used the collage skills from our previous art journey to create seasonal trees. We focussed on the colours we would see on these trees during each season and chose one to collage.
