Year 2- Exploring human and physical features!
Date: 9th Feb 2026 @ 9:12am
Date: 9th Feb 2026 @ 9:09am
Year 2 were thrilled to be visited by Dan Worsley. The children loved listening to his imaginative and exciting story all about an alien, and they were completely captivated from start to finish. His energetic storytelling sparked their curiosity and inspired them to think creatively about their own writing. It was a memorable session that left everyone buzzing with ideas!

In RE, our focus has been Hindu Dharma. Our key question for the year is ‘Does it matter how we treat the world? During our learning we have
answered the question ‘How might people express their devotion?’
Year 2 - Exploring food chains!
Date: 3rd Feb 2026 @ 9:06pm
Year 2- What is Ragtime music?
Date: 29th Jan 2026 @ 1:10pm
In this lesson we focussed on looking at the musical style of Ragtime. We explore key features of this type of music, we looked at key artists, what instruments were played at this time and what musics it inspired. The children wrote down all the facts they gathered.
Year 2 - Using an atlas to explore the world !
Date: 29th Jan 2026 @ 1:03pm
In this lesson we looked at recapping our knowledge of the world’s continents and oceans. The children had to use an atlas to put a jigsaw of the world together and they labelled the continents and oceans. We then went on to answer key questions about size of oceans and where different countries were located.

In Mastering number, we have been looking at how we can use facts that we already know to help us solve other problems. For example, 3 + 2 = 5, so we know 13 + 2 = 15. The children have used renereks to support their understanding and have used whiteboards to show what they have learnt.

Year 2- Listening and Appraising!
Date: 16th Jan 2026 @ 8:06am
Date: 16th Jan 2026 @ 8:01am
In Maths, we used analogue clocks to learn how to tell time past the hour. We explored the roles of the minute hand and the hour hand and developed an understanding of the intervals between each number on the clock face. This activity supported our ability to read and interpret time accurately.
Year 2- Investigating habitats
Date: 16th Jan 2026 @ 8:00am
Date: 6th Jan 2026 @ 8:25pm
In mastering number we have been looking at how to make doubles, using the number facts we already know. We played a game with a idce, looking at doubling and halving numbers. We also looked at using the rekenrek, to find doubles. We used the sentence stems '5 and a bit' '-- is made up of 5 and --' and 'double 5 and -- is --'.
Year 2- Living or never alive?
Date: 6th Jan 2026 @ 8:21pm
This week in science, we explored and compared the differences between things that are living, dead, and things that have never been alive. Through partner discussions, we shared our ideas and talked about similarities and differences we have noticed in the world around us. We worked together to sort and arrange pictures, answering our focus question: Is it living, dead, or has it never been alive? We discussed our choices with our partner which allowed us to critical think and reason why we think it is either living, dead or never been alive.

This week in PE, we took part in a yoga session linked to the exciting theme “Jumping into the Ocean.” The lesson allowed us to copy and repeat a range of yoga movements inspired by life in the ocean. We carried out poses that linked to creatures such as dolphins, starfish, and sharks, helping us to use our imagination while developing our physical skills. Through yoga, we worked on improving our flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination. We practised holding poses, controlling the movements and focusing on our breathing. These activities support not only physical development but also our mind to feel calm, relaxed and focused.

This week in Maths, we have been learning about telling the time. We focused on reading o’clock and half past times. We explored how the hour hand and minute hand work on an analogue clock. To support our learning, we worked with our partner to practically use clocks to show a range of different times. This helped us talk to check our answers together and discuss any misconceptions.
Date: 16th Dec 2025 @ 2:57pm
Over our two art days, we explored the work of two inspiring artists: Marela Zacarías and Vincent van Gogh. We created artist focus pages to study their unique styles and considered how different areas of art connect to each artist’s approach. We experimented with colour mixing, blending primary colours to create secondary colours, and practiced continuous line drawing. In addition, we enjoyed collage making and expressive painting using acrylics, allowing us to develop a range of creative techniques.

In Science, we have been looking at what an animal needs to survive. We have been thinking about their lifecycles and comparing how different animals and humans live their lives. We thought about their offspring or if the lay eggs. We then made lifecycles for humans, ducks and a butterfly.

Year 2- Birch- Christmas Dinner & Christmas Jumper Day!
Date: 8th Dec 2025 @ 8:22am
Year 2- Elm- Christmas Dinner & Christmas Jumper Day!
Date: 8th Dec 2025 @ 8:21am
Date: 4th Dec 2025 @ 9:18am
In maths we learnt about lines of symmetry, focusing on vertical lines of symmetry. We began by looking at a variety of 2D shapes and discussing what symmetry means and that a shape is symmetrical if it can be folded into two matching halves. We then carried out a practical activity where they cut out different shapes such as squares, rectangles, circles, and triangles. They experimented with folding the shapes to see if they could find a vertical line of symmetry. After folding, the children used pencils and rulers to draw the vertical lines of symmetry clearly on each shape.
