Today we began our final unit in French - La Seconde Guerre Mondiale (The Second World War). Firstly, we had to use Google translate to work out the meaning of a range of words in French so that we had a good understanding of the words we were going to learn about in this unit. We then used the words we had translated to translate long sentences related to WWII. We will build on our understanding of new vocabulary over the next 5 sessions.

This year our school council meetings have been quite different to previous years due to Covid 19. We now meet virtually using 'Googlemeet' and this appears to be working really well.
The School Council have decided on which charities they want to support and have been busy coming up with ideas as to how to raise money.
Local Charities- Brian House and Donna's dream House.
National Charities- Children in Need and Comic Relief.
International Charity- Water Aid.
Money has already been raised for Children in Need and Comic Relief and, as you can see from the photos on the blog, everyone had fun participating in these events!
The School councillors have now been given the task to generate ideas of how we can continue to support our local charities, Brian House and Donna's Dream House in the final half term of the year. Watch this space!

Fabulous Food - Tortilla Pin Wheels
Date: 28th Apr 2021 @ 4:12pm
Today we learnt about healthy eating and having a balanced diet in moderation. We created our own Vegetarian Tortilla Pinwheels which could be used for the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony party. First we looked at lots of different images and designs to find out what the pinwheels needed to be like - their shape, colour and ingredients. Then we taste tested the ingredients to find out which we liked and disliked. We designed our pinwheels and thought about how we need a variety of foods to be healthy from a range of food groups. Then we carefully and hygienically prepared the ingredients in the kitchen before we constructed our pinwheels. Finally we evaluated them to see if they were tasty and if we had been successful!

His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Date: 14th Apr 2021 @ 8:49pm
The children of Boundary Primary School, send our condolences to HM The Queen and the Royal Family.
The Duke of Edinburgh was a remarkable man who, throughout his life, upheld the British Values that now weave through our school curriculum and help us to become responsible and respectful citizens who contribute positively to society. His public service, patronage and charitable work reflect the value of Democracy. A consort to HM The Queen, a successful career in the Royal Navy, commitment to every branch of service life, sporting achievements and his Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme all highlight the Rule of Law. His childhood taught him the values of self reliance, an aspect of Individual Liberty, whilst his commitment to the Commonwealth clearly demonstrated Mutual Respect and Tolerance of other Faiths and Beliefs.
It is through these values we will remember him as we prepare for life in modern Britain.

Date: 22nd Mar 2021 @ 7:01pm
We wore red, brought in some fundraising money and told lots of funny jokes to Raise money for Comic Relief. Being funny and having a laugh is one of the resilient moves that we can use to help ourselves feel better and look after our own mental health and well being. We also raised money for different charities, while enjoying ourselves!

For the remainder of this half term we are going to be focussed on developing and improving our fundamental skills. This will include focussing on running, jumping, balancing, throwing, catching, agility and coordination.
Today we took part in a number of different team games which enabled us to practise lots of the above skills! These games encouraged us to work together as a small group within our bubble, as well as testing our listening and communication skills.

In today's PE lessons we looked at different skills we would need as part of 'Invasion Games'. Today's skill was 'dodging'. We had to remember to look where we were going (keeping our heads up) in order to effectively dodge opponents who were coming towards us. For one of our activities we worked in groups of 4/5 where we held hands in a circle by holding plastic bands. One member of the group had a bib tucked into their waist band and they are the ones to be defended. The catcher then had 30 seconds to try and catch that person's bib whilst the group worked together to defend them by blocking the attacker. As you can see from the pictures, we had a great lesson!
Date: 17th Mar 2021 @ 3:42pm
Year 4 were practising their attacking and defending skills in PE this morning during invasion games. The children communicated well with their peers to support the games they were playing.
Holly Class Forest School Fun!
Date: 11th Mar 2021 @ 8:47pm
It was a very breezy day but Holly Class wrapped up warm and ventured out to take part in Forest School.
First, we warmed up by playing running games and hide a seek and then we used our beady eyes to look for circles in the environment. We found them everywhere, on a bench, on logs and canes, at the bird stop, in plant pots and even in the pond (which had lots of frog spawn!). We then went exploring, trampiing through the soggy grass, raking the mud to plant grass seeds and building towers and seats to sit on using the logs. Alfie even found a frog! The children worked together, helping each other to lift, build, carry and explore.
By the time it was time to go, we were all very muddy and and very hungry. Before we went to lunch, Mrs McAllister hosed all the children down which was to their absolute delight!
