As part of Year 5's work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, 14 children had the opportunity to learn and act out a scene from the play 'The Taming of the Shrew' and perform with other schools in the local area. All the children came together at the Grand Theatre in Blackpool and performed on its famous stage. We were extremely impressed with the children's dedication and commitment when learning their lines and also the courage and confidence they demonstrated whilst acting in front of an audience. All of Year 5 children enjoyed watching the play and their experience at the theatre.

On a very windy Monday evening and having been rehearsing since September, Boundary joined pupils from virtually every Blackpool school at The Grand Theatre, performing hundreds of songs and dances, playing in bands and orchestras and enjoying a wonderful introduction to theatre!
Pupil's from Years 5 an 6 performed a medley of songs from Oliver and WOW, they were amazing! The hard-work, determination, perseverance and team work that each child demonstrated throughout each rehearsal and during the final performance really paid off - we could not be more proud of each and every performer!
Thank you to all the parents and carers who came to watch and to the children and staff for the time and energy they put into rehearsing and the final show.

RSC Trip - The Merchant of Venice
Date: 10th Oct 2019 @ 3:18pm
The Royal Shakespeare Company Primary School scheme aims to increase the cultural capital of each student who is involved - exposing children to wider reading, increasing literacy skills through drama and acting and attending professional performances. It introduces children to the idea that words have a life off the page as well as within a book itself - this was certainly the case as Year 4 attended a performance of The Merchant of Venice at The Grand Theatre. Prior to this, both Year 4 classes took a small section of the play and, working in small groups, taking on a particular role, rehearsed their lines and with a new understanding of inflection, tone of voice and body language, performed their part of the play to the class.

The children had an amazing opportunity today and took part in a zoom Royal Ballet School ‘Nutcracker’ workshop. The character that was particularly popular was the Mouse King and everyone loved acting as him through dance. They also learnt about the story behind the Nutcracker Ballet.
In January, Year Three will be receiving weekly ballet lessons from the Royal Ballet and four older pupils are already part of the Royal Ballet Scheme after school.
