Year 5 - Solar System Model

In our science lesson this week, created a scale replica of our solar system. We found the distances of the planets from the sun in Astronomical unit (AU), and converted this to meters. 1 AU is the distance from Earth to the Sun, so on our model Earth was 1 meter from the Sun. As you can see the rocky planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are relatively close together, whereas the gas giants are further apart.
