Reading into Writing Journey

Here in Cedar, we have begun our new Reading into Writing journey focusing on Biographies. We began by reading through a number of biographies of famous people, picking out the main features of the genre. We also identified some GPS features within the genre and have been working on developing our skills. We first identified when and why we use capital letters. We learnt what the difference is between proper nouns, common nouns and pronouns. We then learnt how to use apostrophes for contractions and procession. We are looking forward to applying our new skills in extended writing when we write our own biography about Neil Armstrong.
