Boundary Primary School uses Lancashire County Council for School meals, Lancashire Schools Catering service has been awarded the prestigious Catering Mark in recognition of the fresh and healthy meals it serves in Schools. They are a champion of local food suppliers including yoghurts from Longridge, free range eggs from Leyland and beef, poultry and seasonal fresh vegetables from across Lancashire.
Over 80% of meals are freshly prepared from unprocessed ingredients and meals contain to undesirable food additives or Tran’s fats. We attach great importance to the provision of meals in our school and ensure that our meals are always healthy and balanced.
We have a dedicated team, who work hard to produce a wide variety of meals for both students and staff and all of our food is cooked fresh each day. All children are supervised at lunchtimes by our Mid-Day Supervisors. From September 2014, as a result of DfE funding, all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are offered a free school meal each day, unless you choose to opt out.
School meal options are as follows:-
Have a school lunch – Cooked meals are available and served in the dining hall, cooked by staff from Lancashire Schools Catering.
Bring a packed lunch – Children may also bring their own packed lunch, which is also eaten in the dining hall. We actively encourage healthy eating and ask you to consider this when preparing your child’s lunch. Sweets are not allowed and chocolate should be limited to one small bar or biscuit. Nuts, or products containing nut traces, are not allowed as we have pupils with severe allergies. Most chocolate spreads contain nut traces, and therefore it is easier to say that none are allowed. Lunch should be packed in a lunchbox, which is clearly labelled with your child’s name. Drinks should be brought in a plastic flask or other unbreakable containers for safety reasons, again clearly marked. Please do not send canned drinks, fizzy or any hot drinks.
The school operates a ‘cashless system’ for school meals, where students use cash to top up their balance.
‘ParentPay’ also allows you to check your balance and to see what a student is eating. A letter with full details on how to access ParentPay will be issued to you when your child starts our school.
